About me
I am a PhD student in the Walker Lab at the University of Illinois Chicago. I use computational methods to build pipelines that detect and filter chimeric sequences found during reconstruction of plant transcriptomes. These filtered reads are then analyzed through a phylogenomic lens to uncover evolutionary patterns in the world's flora.

Phylogenomics
The inference of historical relationships among species using genome-scale sequence data and to the use of phylogenetic analysis to infer protein function in multigene families.

Transcriptomics
The study of transcriptome—the complete set of RNA, also known as expression profiling, as it is a study of the expression levels of mRNAs in a given cell population.

Computational BiologyAn interdisciplinary field that develops and applies computational methods to analyse large collections of biological data, such as genetic sequences, cell populations or protein samples, to make new predictions or discover new biology.
